Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
We are looking for a focused, empathetic and conscientious individual, who is passionate about equity, justice and human rights and can contribute to our important frontline mahi with skillful and exceptional customer service.
This is a full-time, fixed term role ending on 30 June 2026.
He kōrero mōu | About you
To be successful in this role you will have or be developing the following;
- Demonstrated experience in client service roles
- Exceptional communication and case management skills
- Accurate and efficient data inputting
- Able to effectively organise, prioritise and multi-task
- Proactive and positive and have a “can-do” and adaptable attitude
- Understanding of, or experience in, te Tiriti, human rights and dispute resolution

Human Rights Case Advisors contribute to the Human Rights Commission’s Information and Dispute Resolution rōpū. Our rōpū responds to enquiries and complaints of unlawful discrimination and broader human rights matters from members the public. Our rōpū members come from a range of backgrounds but they all share one thing - a passion for human rights, connecting with people and providing a quality service.

Te Kāhui Tika Tangata is Aotearoa New Zealand’s national human rights institution. The Commission was created to provide better protection of human rights in Aotearoa. We are committed to supporting a life of dignity for all, and to becoming a Te Tiriti based organisation tauira and human rights exemplar.
The Human Rights Commission was created to provide better protection of human rights in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Commission was formed in 1977 and works under the Human Rights Act 1993.
Te Kāhui Tika Tangata seeks and is committed to become a tauira (example) of a Tiriti-based organisation and Indigenous and human rights exemplar as a national human rights institution (NHRI).
Our vision is to be a credible, effective, connected and highly valued organisation that makes te Tiriti and human rights real and relevant within and outside the organisation, confident in its Tiriti-based aspiration and making a positive impact for all individuals, whānau, hapū, communities and iwi in Aotearoa New Zealand.
We are funded through the Ministry of Justice but operate independently of the New Zealand Government as an independent Crown Entity.
